Trump supporters reminded people how Democrats often used this type as hyperbole in the past, including against Mitt Romney, so they just tuned it out as noise.

If you aren't deliberately trolling, then you need to check yourself. Strongly implying something and then turning around and claiming "I never actually said that" is a common tactic used by posters like Snoofy and Gaslighter.

You got some of your facts wrong, but I'm not going to waste my time engaging with all the minutia. I've made that mistake in the past with the aliases mentioned above, since they just went around in circles deflecting to different points rather than acknowledging they might have been wrong on even one.

Everyone who voted Biden in the 2024 primary knew that Harris would be the one to replace him if he were unable to continue. I don't believe a significant number of people were actually bothered by this. One thing that Trump took advantage of, again, and that some cretins who knee-jerked to everything he said still haven't figured out, is that many voters filter out what they deem to be "noise". So, when Trump gets the cretins and fools stuck in a pattern of reacting to everything he says or does and calling him a "Nazi", they stop paying attention to those sources and subconsciously lump all accusations that sound outrageous in with that noise, even if they happened to be true.

I don't agree this is politics as usual. After Clinton broke the law and was deservedly impeached, his party paid a price for several election cycles, and no one who isn't partisan still wants anything to do with anyone named Clinton. After Bush screwed up with both Iraq and the economy, no one wants anything to do with anyone named Bush either. But after ------- up the Covid response and getting deservedly impeached twice, and getting at least two of his own supporters fatally shot, people still want to subject themselves and the country to another four years of that?

Something is really wrong if that many people want to cut off their noses to spite their faces that bad, and can't be just because they're "stupid" or "evil".

I agree with this. Some of Trump's supporters are retarded and voted for him (again) because they only see politics as a sport/game/entertainment like professional wrestling. But some are cynical/depressed/disaffected and actually believe their lives will be better by burning the whole system down to the ground.
