Subsidies to promote fledgling industries is nothing new and (in concept) is prudent. In the case of petroleum development, subsidies are a way of 'priming the pump' (so to speak!). I wonder how many folks are aware of how much subsidies are still being given to the petroleum industry after more than a CENTURY! The amount is more than a TRILLION dollars. Can we at least agree petroleum development is no longer a "fledgling industry"?

To claim our society should not provide even a small fraction of the amount (in both time and $$$) that the petroleum industry receives to develop new energy sources (solar, wind, geothermal, tidal, etc.), is ludicrous.

Two honest questions:
1. How much money due to fraud/abuse has DOGE saved?
2. How much did it cost to save that amount of money?
IOW, is DOGE doing its job?

It's easy to simply cut spending.
One can save money by never changing the oil in one's car. However, that's not a prudent plan.

Isn't defending the integrity of your home just a case of a 'territorial dispute'? After all, you can just relocate to another place more to your liking after the home invader takes what they want. You can also be confident that the home invader won't come to your new place because they can be trusted (just like one can trust the Russians: see the Budapest Memorandum of about thirty years ago!). If one follows the actions of the Russians rather than what they say, there's little mystery as to why the Ukrainians are fighting.

Apparently that attempt at humor went completely over your head.

Now, to answer your question, personally I'm more concerned about any powerful person/party that circumvents/ignores the law. Yes, the law might be imperfect, but if the law is not followed then our republic no longer exists. There are ways to deal with imperfect law.
