Great discussion on retirement. I'm thinking about it a lot these days. Just turned 56 and I have no idea how long I will work but I want the option to hang it up at 61-62.

Have Roth's and traditional IRAs. I could live on them until 65-67 with plenty to supplement SS when I take it.

I hope The next four years will see the United States weaker, poorer, sicker than it's been since 1931.

I suppose you can go back nearly 50 years to scrutinize Carter's 4 year tenure but personally it's a waste of time, IMO. He was a very good man and displayed his values throughout his entire life all the way to the end. He's a model for all former presidents to follow.

Is that a way of admitting you don't believe elections actually matter when democrats win?

I've never done it. I also haven't managed a city that has to deal directly with these problems. I can sit on my ass and blog all day about how bad it's managed, though.

That's pretty ------ easy.

I love bitching about the poor. I view it as a right just like bitching about election results because I vote. I contribute a fair amount to charities just so I can bitch about their mission.

I asked my two daughters (24 & 21) If they believed this was true. Surprisingly, they both agreed with the results of this study.

When you hold office as an elected official, you're supposed to represent your constituents. It's impossible to believe in everything your constituents actually want....your job is to represent them.

It doesn't mean you agree with everything you voted for.

It's a fair question. Why are there no apparent mechanisms in place (or they are ignored) to ensure people with high level security clearance abide by the rules that accompany that security clearance?
