A driver crashed his pickup truck into a crowd celebrating New Year's Day in New Orleans' French Quarter and opened fire, killing 10 people and injuring more than 35, in an early morning attack the FBI said was a potential act of terrorism.

The bollards on Bourbon Street are removable, because it is only closed to vehicle traffic some of the time. They were in the process of upgrades to an improved, more secure system, so there were openings.
Realistically, there is no way to stop someone hell bent on killing people. This case proves they will always find a weapon. It is not a gun problem or a bollards problem or a truck problem or a red problem or a blue problem. It is the mental health problem we all need to be working on together.

The location of smuggling makes sense because hard drugs at ports of entry are about 97 percent less likely to be stopped than are people crossing illegally between them.
