So far, Biden's overture seems to have fallen flat. Democrats find themselves adrift, casting about for a compelling messenger. Whoever that is, it's not Biden, many party activists and donors contend. He's tethered to the 2024 defeat and, at 82, is a symbol more of the party's past than its future, they argue. "Who's going to want Joe Biden back in the game?" said a major Biden supporter, speaking on condition of anonymity to talk candidly about him.
Three people were killed and 15 more were injured in a mass shooting at a New Mexico park on Friday night, officials said. The shooting happened at about 10 p.m. at Young Park, police in Las Cruces in the southern part of the state said on Saturday. The deceased victims were two 19-year-old men and a 16-year-old boy. The injured ranged in age from 16 to 36 years old. The shooting began as an altercation between two groups of people at an "unsanctioned car show" that escalated into gunfire between the groups, Police Chief Jeremy Story said at a news conference. Boxing heavyweight legend George Forman has died aged 76, according to his family. Foreman, known as Big George in the ring, competed for decades starting in the 1960s, winning gold at the Olympics and numerous title belts - including the world heavyweight title twice. His first professional loss came to another icon: Muhammad Ali in an iconic 1974 fight. "Our hearts are broken," his family said in a statement posted on Instagram. "A devout preacher, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grand and great grandfather, he lived a life marked by unwavering faith, humility, and purpose."
A Dothan man was arrested again on Monday just two months after former President Joe Biden commuted his sentence. Dothan Police charged Willie Frank Peterson on Monday with possessing cocaine, hydrocodone, marijuana, and two counts of illegally possessing firearms, according to WTVY. Biden commuted Peterson's prior sentence and those of many other criminals in his final days in office. According to WTVY, court records show Peterson was sentenced to 75 months in August 2023. Biden commuted his sentence on January 17, and he was released from prison the following week. A commutation isn't a full pardon but rather a lesser penalty substituted for the punishment given after a conviction. According to the DOJ, Al Sharpton's half-brother Kenneth Glasgow's sentence also included a charge of conspiring with Peterson to possess cocaine with intent to distribute.
Police are responding to reports of an armed man outside of the CIA headquarters in Virginia. According to WUSA, police are responding to a man who is experiencing a "mental health crisis."
