Now here is a nightmare scenario...Alito resigns, Vance is nominated/appointed to his seat, Rubio is then appointed VP, only needs a majority vote in both Houses of Congress. Then Trump resigns, as Nixon resigned, and Rubio automatically ascends to President and pardons Trump for each and every grift ever, and pardons Trump's family and the entire gang, and then it isn't Trump in the new come the midterms, or the 2028 elections, it will be "good cop' Rubio.
Makes sense to me, though the Republican Party might find Trump not amenable to heading for the hills.

One wonders if anyone is able to keep tabs on the grift over the Trump administrations...goodness knows I am not. Being the same age as Trump, I am fine with understanding that aging is a bear and one needs to relax and let younger brains take over...younger as in sixty or so. So wish we had age limits on running for the Presidency.

In case anyone thinks this is a novel situation we face with an out of control President and Executive Branch composed of the most incompetent people in America...I remind you of the sixties, when we listened to far right John Birchers in the Kennedy administration who got us mired in an imperialist war against the people of Vietnam, and inside America, we were divided one from another, all so corrupt people like Kissinger and Nixon could...strut about hurting people for speaking their minds.

We need to be clear, what is happening in our America has been happening all over the globe, as great wealth concentrates in a few greedy and grifty hands, they work to corrupt the legal systems and then the political systems of country after country. Some countries lose to fascism, think Russia, but that doesn't mean the heroes who fought valiantly, like Alexei Navalny, were wrong, it just means that hate sometimes wins over democracy.

All this does bring up the question of who do politicians answer to? If Congress passes a law that mandates an administration release certain files...does the President have to follow the law? Do his staff? Of course, I think the law is for all, but apparently a lot of people in the Trump grifting gang think otherwise. Should ask the Supreme Court if their mandates are actually law if no one will enforce them, as in no one in the Trump gang.

As taxes get cut, and more and more people need Social Security and Medicare to survive, the house of cards that is our economy will fall. One figures that is the main reason crypto is the darling of the very rich, they can hide assets and survive the dollar's collapse.
We are close to not being able to pay our bills today...borrowing isn't paying.

OH hell, just replace the word "Trump" with the word "Putin" in any headline today, and one can see just how screwed we are to have a clear fascist running things and one who is, as the President of Portugal said, 'objectively, a Russian Asset'.

With the massive tax cuts, one can be sure that if and when the tariffs have to be paid back, and that assumes the idiotic Supreme Court gets things together, the super rich will get richer, and the poor will be impoverished. As America bankrupts itself toward the end of the FDR safety net protections, the rich today rule as gods, and if Trump and his Republican Party have their way, America will be Russia, with the oligarch billionaires ruling from the clouds.
Having watched America elect a clear fascist twice, I have little faith in the future of American democracy.
