I don't like the funding cuts to valuable research, but I also understand not sending federal funds to an institution that allows protests on their campus that is discriminatory, and violent towards other students on that campus.

I have to reconcile it this way, if a group like the KKK were doing some sort of valuable research, should the feds help fund that?

Columbia should be getting research grants, and it should be shutting down blatantly illegal protests. It's unfortunate that they didn't keep that clear line.

Given that the statement that the state of education here in the States has not improved since the dept. of education was formed, why is it such a bad thing to cut it back? Please take this as an honest request for viewpoints that are meant to shed light on the topic and not an attempt at 'gotcha' question.

So the protests on my sons college campus last year that were against the schools rules, kept Jewish students from entering parts of campus, and caused injury to some... You have a hard time as recognizing those as illegal?
