Black lawmakers and activists across the Deep South argue they have been abandoned by the Democratic Party to fight an existential crisis on their own. They say they've been let down by nearly all corners of the party: would be-presidential hopefuls who have flocked to early and swing states but don't bring their megaphones elsewhere; congressional leadership focused on majority-making battlegrounds while safe Black seats are drawn out; and years of chronic underfunding that has allowed local party apparatus to wither away. read more

As California tries to derail Paramount's $110 billion takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery, Paramount CEO David Ellison's friends and advisers have been pushing the media executive to consider shifting his business out of the state. Ellison's confidantes have pushed him to consider moving its corporate headquarters and reallocating much of its $30 billion in planned spending outside the state if California Attorney General Rob Bonta were to sue to stop the merger, according to people familiar with the discussions. No decisions have been made, these people said, and the considerations may just be a show of brinkmanship, given so much of the industry's production takes place outside of Hollywood already. Under the current deal, Paramount has committed to keeping both companies' lots operational if it remains in California. read more
An LGBTQ cruise that was prohibited from stopping in Turkey earlier this week was not allowed to dock at its substitute port in Egypt on Thursday, according to the company that planned the trip. Atlantis Events CEO Rich Campbell, who is on Virgin Voyages' Scarlet Lady with nearly 2,000 passengers, called the move "really unheard of" and "strange and sad" in a message to The Washington Post. He said that the approval to dock in Alexandria was pulled at the last minute. read more

Its been the IMF (West) vs China, ever since Clinton gave them favorable status.
IMF loans issued in the Americas and India to address foreign exchange crises ultimately weakened domestic economies and industries. China takes a different approach to lending by funding infrastructure abroad and securing resources to bolster its own economy. Countries that rely on IMF loans risk long-term economic setbacks, while China's model strengthens its position as a global economic leader.

It is hard to overstate the hope that followed the fall of apartheid in South Africa in 1994. The newly elected African National Congress was well positioned to move the country into a new era of equality and prosperity for all citizens. South Africa not only had abundant natural resources at its disposal but also boasted a well-developed industrial economy and the continent's top university system.
After nearly a half-century of apartheid, however, South African leaders argued that formal equality wasn't enough. Instead, as the argument went, a transitional period of redress for nonwhites was required. These efforts included affirmative action, land reform, and "black economic empowerment," among others. For example, the government bought white-owned farms and distributed them to black South Africans, many of whom lacked the skills and knowledge to run them successfully. As a result, once-profitable farming operations fell into disrepair and underuse, weakening both economic productivity and food security.

Why can't you admit you have a better system than what existed before? Why wouldn't you want it to go forward, as opposed to going backwards to at time where Indians were raping the women of other tribes with wonton abandon? Its the myth of the noble savage.
Somethings are just better for more people, the American system is better than anything that came before. Embrace it.
Why are Americans so ashamed of themselves?
Not sure what the point is here.
So did Hitler!
Hitler offered something to everyone: work to the unemployed; prosperity to failed business people; profits to industry; expansion to the Army; social harmony and an end of class distinctions to idealistic young students; and restoration of German glory to those in despair. He promised to bring order amid chaos; a feeling of unity to all and the chance to belong. He would make Germany strong again; end payment of war reparations to the Allies; tear up the treaty of Versailles; stamp out corruption; keep down Marxism; and deal harshly with the Jews. War& Conflict
He appealed to all classes of Germans. The name of the Nazi Party itself was deliberately all inclusive " the National Socialist German Workers' Party.
All of the Nazis, from Hitler, down to the leader of the smallest city block, worked tirelessly, relentlessly, to pound their message into the minds of the Germans.

Good luck with that!
An example of that would be nice.
Why not wait until they take over the country, would that be a good enough example?
WASHINGTON (TNND) " With the November midterms just months away, the Democratic Socialists of America just released a new platform calling for structural changes to the U.S. government and expanded socialist economic policies.
The platform, called "Workers Deserve More," focuses on shifting structural political and economic power away from corporations and into the hands of the working class. The DSA released the platform Tuesday, and includes extending full voting rights to people with criminal convictions and noncitizens, replacing the Electoral College with a national popular vote for president, and replacing the two-party system with a multi-party democracy. It also calls for expanding the House and abolishing the Senate.
Co-Chair of the DSA, Ashik Siddique, told C-SPAN this week, "We just don't see the point of the Senate. Historically, it was meant to serve very wealthy people who owned a lot of land and that's still a system that we have today and it's something we would change."

The DSA is taking over the left wing of the Democrat party.
Of course the "communism" comment is about democrats. And it's BS.
idk ... a growing portion of Democrat voters are DSA aligned ....
Actually, a Lot of DSA Members Are Communists
Trump's characterization of the group prompted media dismissals, but a majority of the Democratic Socialists of America's leadership identifies with Marxist ideology.
