Sunscreen Misinformation Spreads Online

"It was not like this before," Dr. Jeanine Downie, a board-certified dermatologist with her own practice in New Jersey told CBS News Confirmed. "I see easily six patients per week that are anti-sunscreen, where it used to be maybe one every other week or one a month. And now it's just gotten crazy."

This movement picked up steam in June, with creators on TikTok telling followers in no uncertain terms "stop wearing sunscreen."

An individual's freedom of speech is not a good enough reason to tolerate mass media dissemination of harmful propaganda.

Sunscreen with zinc and, even then, limited exposure. Don't wanna do it? The effects are cumulative, developing over years, and they can be very nasty, with literally life-threatening surprises.

I wear a facial sunscreen every day. Helps with the dry skin on my nose, and protects against aging

Days gone by (one hopes) some oldtime cowboys in AZ would every so often lop off another bit of ear to keep up with the on-the-march sun damage they took in their jobs, even with those big, broad-brimmed hats.
