Democrat Wins GOP Backers in Key Long Island Congress Race

Former Republican elected officials including ex-Staten Island Congresswoman Susan Molinari crossed party lines to endorse the Democratic challenger to Representative Nick LaLota in a key US House race on eastern Long Island.

The people of NY have long known just what a sorry excuse for human trump is for a long time.

His full display of racism and hate have been oozing out of his ill fitting suit coupled with his ever increasing dementia incidents.

People are seeing he is rapidly declining mentally. Its only getting worse the more he rages, the more he snorts adderall, the more late night rage tweeting.

America wants better.

Look how desperate he has become...

No tax on social security.
No tax on tips.
Lifting the SALT cap.
All these were republic**t policies designed to hurt the middle class. He has no intention of changing them.

He's flailing.

He had nine years to come up with a health care plan and he has NOTHING.

He was asked about making child care more affordable and he circled into a rambling word salad speech about energy cuts and even more bigger things (huh?) that will magically lower the cost with no plans.

He has no intention of fixing anything for the middle class.

His only two policies is a) staying out of prison and b) more tax cuts for millionaires.

New York's almost 20 million residents predominantly live in urban or suburban metro areas, and in the more densely populated metro areas about 1/3 of registered voters are republican or conservative. But about 1/4 of New York's residents live in rural areas, and in most of those areas about 2/3 of registered voters are republican or conservative. Long Island's east end is one of those rural areas but still in the orbit of Metro NYC. And that LI district is fairly consistently Republican. A number of NY CDs were redistricted by a conservative judge in 2023, with the intent to make more districts fair game.

I didn't check the numbers in your post.

All I will say is that when I lived in upstate NY, the prevailing attitude there seemed to be along the lines of...

~why doesn't NYC just float out to sea, never to be heard from again.~

So, yeah, looking at the state of New York based solely upon New York City will lead one astray.

There is so much more to the state of New York than just New York City.

Also, do not forget that the suburbs of NYC are quite GOP-oriented. Long Island, Rockland and Orange counties.

Sue Molinari is a member of Paisans for Harris.

Her dad was a Republican borough president for Staten Island for 50 years or so.

But back then New York Republicans were also named Javits, Lindsay, Rockefeller ...
