Stuart Stevens Takes Bill Ackman to School in Lesson ForMAGA

Bill, saying you support the candidate who has promised to cut taxes for billionaires vs. the candidate who will raise taxes on billionaires, but you don't really support the tax cuts is a bit like the old "I read Playboy for the articles." But fine, let's assume you are convinced that all the benefits of a Trump presidency compensate for the burden of having your taxes cut. Let's look at your 33 reasons.

Comments

I admire Stevens' thoroughness and tenacity.

For background you migth want to read Ackman's 33 reasons he's voting for Trump:

Oh, that's gonna leave a mark.

You probably have heard of Stevens without realizing it.

Stuart Stevens is an American author and political consultant. He was the cofounder of Washington, D.C.-based political media consultancy Stevens & Schriefer Group (with Russell Schriefer). In 2013, he became a founding partner in Strategic Partners & Media. He served as a top strategist for Mitt Romney's 2012 presidential campaign in addition to several other significant presidential campaigns over the course of his career. He later joined The Lincoln Project, a Republican Never Trump group for the 2020 United States presidential election. In 2023, he published an analysis of political changes moving toward autocracy.

As for Bill Ackman, he's just another bigshot billionaire who thinks he's God's gift to everybody and who likes to make a fool of himself on Twitter/X. Anyway, it's not the people I care about, but Stevens' actual correcting the record on Biden, Harris and Trump.

@#3 ... Never heard of 'em. ...

Neither did I until the area college station played that fun tune.

It still brings a smile to my face when I hear it.

"correcting the record on Biden, Harris and Trump.

I don't need the record corrected. Trump's record is pretty obvious. But I suuspect Bidwn's and Harris's is dependent upon the actions of Israel post Oct, 7 but I do demand to see the credentials that grant you the right to dismiss the deaths of 1300 people and the kidnapping of 1000 people and then the arrogant blame you rendered on Israeli forces for the collateral deaths that resulted from HAMAS hiding their terrorist troops among the civillian population. I've never been a fan of the Israeli settlers; the Zionists, but I also have also totally supported Israel's right to exist. and, if that right exists, then they have a right to defend themselves. And now, as Hezbollah has entered the fray and thus Iran; what the F do you expect Israel to do? I know what I would do and what most Americans would do in the same situation. And that is exactly my point! I think we have, as a nation, identified with the Palestinians a/k/a the victims but not the people who hid HAMAS terrorists among themselves. And now, I do exit left wing ideology, When the Palestinians decided to hide HAMAS terrorists among themselves they voluntarily gave up the right to consider themselves to be victims. Israel has a perfect right to hunt down these vicious murderers and I can't find a legitimate argument for the Palestinians' attempts to defend them. If anything they should be helping to bring those terrorists to justice! Not a popular view today but popularity should never dictate right and wrong. And so.....I, Danni, say that probably the Israelis are not wrong in their reaction to yje Oct. 7 terrorist attack. I think I can claim to be about as left as anyone but the left supported Israel from the beginning of that nation. we need to remember; the left supported Israel brcause it was the right thing to do! We, on the left cannor alter our views based on public opinion which comes and goes, It has to be based on right and wrong and HAMAS murdering 1300 people and kidnapping 1000 hostages just isn't right and thosse of us on the left have to recognize that even if inconvenient! I commend Biden and Harris for their steadfast support for Israel at this time. Of course room for disagreement exists but, like it or not, I still agree with Israrl's right to exist and defend their people! And even if I have to sacrifice my left wing creds I will stand by that promise!

Israel does not have a right to commit genocide. And before the current genocide, Israel did not and does not have the right to commit apartheid.

It's become VERY clear in the past year who the real terrorists are. And it's not Hamas. If Israel continues down their current path, they will no more have a right to exist than Nazi Germany.

It's truly sad. The rest of the world mostly learned the correct lesson from WW2, at least for a while - that fascism is horrific. Israel seems to have instead learned "It's fine if we're the ones doing it."

I read all of it. Not a single spin in the refutation. FACTS.

Hi Dark:

Was it "genocide" when the USA killed over 100,000 Iraqis because of a made-up claim of WMDs? After an attack that killed about 3000? We did that.

War is not about proportionate responses.

Hamas launched a war against Israel. They now have to tell their people how those actions will cause death and misery. Do I agree with all steps Israel has taken? Hell NO, I do not. Just like I did not agree with the all the steps the USA took during 2002-2004. Me personally, as president I would not sell Israel any weapons unless they were used for defense, but that's just me.

They mostly killed each other and that number isn't in the 100k - it is a lot higher if you count all Iraqi deaths during the time. The military killed about 40k combatants. We "set them free" and then the largest sect immediately turned on us and they all essentially were fighting each other. ALMOST makes me think Saddam was right for the way he treated the ------ at least. I still have empathy for the Kurds. They are the only sane ones in the bunch.

On the Israeli front... You are right Hamas started this phase of the never ending war. They committed a horrendous crime. The Israeli response is disproportionate. It is effectively a genocide and they have been working on it hard for the last 20 years - little by little.

The Palestinians need to take the route of Gandhi but that will never happen.

Bush, Cheney, and all of their enablers should have been shipped off to The Hague for trial.

Was it genocide? No. We weren't trying to wipe out Iraqis, that was never a goal. It WAS a massive war crime, there was ZERO justification for invading Iraq, and the conduct of that war and the subsequent crimes against humanity should have resulted in quite a few Americans going to prison. And not just Americans, Tony Blair comes to mind.

You might be able to make a case for some of what happened in Afghanistan being a legitimate response. You can't make a case for the 20 year occupation, you can't make a case for Gitmo, and you definitely can't make a case for Iraq.

Post WW2, the US has a history of being on the wrong side of virtually every conflict. We finally got it right with Ukraine, and then immediately got it wrong again. Israel is not an ally, Israel is an enemy state and will be as long as the fascists are in control there.
