Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska introduced a new bill on Thursday to officially designate the highest mountain in the country "Mount Denali" and not "Mount McKinley," as President Donald Trump instructed in an executive order.
Alaska lawmakers have rejected Trump's attempt to erase Denali and change it to Mount McKinley. Right now, when you search for Denali, Mount McKinley comes up instead. Let's make our voices heard: Denali forever! www.eenews.net/articles/ala ...

Wow! What a hill to die on, Senator Murkowski, in your socialist state. What? Socialism in Alaska? For 41 years, Alaska residents have been receiving annual dividend payments from the state's Permanent Fund. The 2022 payout was one of the largest in history, when every Alaskan received $3,284. Dies anyone else in America receive direct money like this from their state? But Republicans don't like socialism, right?

Hi Rightisrite: Thanks for the insight, you put things into perspective well. People say "Dubya" ran for Governor of Texas because of all the states, Texas is easiest to govern because the legislature only meets for 140 days every two years, although politics can be difficult there, as LBJ learned. Faraway Alaska (and Hawaii) also became states before Puerto Rico.
