Trump Doesn't Know What Kennedy Center Does

The president, who is also now the board chair for the Kennedy Center, convened a meeting of said board on Monday. In a recording of the meeting shared with The Washington Post, Trump and members said they'd like to see Camelot, Cats, Fiddler on the Roof, Hello, Dolly! and The Phantom of the Opera featured at the Kennedy Center. There are a number of practical problems with this wish list, the first of which is that none of those musicals are touring in North America (although a tour of Phantom does launch in November).

The president, in an Evita-like photo-op on Monday, stood in the Kennedy Center's Opera House presidential box, arms outstretched as if there were hundreds of fans below him instead of a handful of handpicked board members.

Nor does he care.

What's the point here?

The point here is that he is a musical theatre poofer mostly stuck in 1971.

Someday there will be a Kennedy Center production called "Springtime for MAGA"

Omean the new Phantom tour starts next year and would PROBABLY have booked DC either right before or after Baltimore (Nov 7 - 15, 2025), but probably not now

Nobody knows this, but everybody's saying there's been some leakage around our new compere with respect to the program for the first event in the new series at the Center. Its what appears to be a partial handwritten rough draft, but it was done with a Sharpie so we may be off to the getting ready to think about putting it together stage of theatrical development:

Introduction of Chairman Trump ... Mormon Tabernacle Choir
Riff ... Chairman Trump, weaving together remarks, observations keyed to his rendering of the folllowing:
Kanye West's "I Am a God"
"This Is Why I'm Hot" by Mims ("This is why I'm hot / I ain't gotta rap / I could sell a mill saying nothing on the track")
"Memory" by Grizabella and Jemima
Uncle Remus's "Zip-A-Dee-Dooh-Dah" prayer
"YMCA" pro anti-homo anthem

If it weren't for profound ignorance, all he'd have are cruelty, dishonesty and crime.

Maybe the Late Great Hannibal Lecter will show up and will perform for Lyin King.

Can't wait for the "Silence of the Libs".

"With hindsight, it's no surprise that the glorification of anti-elitism and anti-intellectualism that has been rampant on the right at least since the election of Barack Obama would give rise to someone like Trump. Anyone who ever read Sinclair Lewis' "It Can't Happen Here," which imagined a fascist dictator taking power in 1930s America, recognizes that Trump is the real-life embodiment of Senator Buzz Windrip-a know-nothing populist who becomes president by promising something for everyone, with no clue or concern for how to actually accomplish it. Windrip was "vulgar, almost illiterate, a public liar easily detected, and in his ideas' almost idiotic," Lewis wrote. "Certainly there was nothing exhilarating in the actual words of his speeches, nor anything convincing in his philosophy. His political platforms were only the wings of a windmill." "
