Former Smiths front man Morrissey is canceling his upcoming concerts at Foxwoods and MGM Music Hall due to a "credible threat on his life." Boston's MGM Music Hall posted this on Instagram: "In recent days, there has been a credible threat on Morrissey's life. Out of an abundance of caution for the safety of both the artist and band, tomorrow's engagement at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway has been cancelled." Noah Castellano (26) was arrested after he posted a threat against Morrissey on social media: "I will attempt to shoot you many times with a very large gun that I own illegally." Castellano was charged with making threats to cause death or bodily harm and released from custody on $5,000 bail. The lunatic was ordered to live at his father's Washington, DC home and some reports suggest that he may be a Canadian citizen from Ottawa.
Performers, speakers, and politicians will be cancelling public appearances out of an abundance of caution whenever a threat is made because of the reality of firearm violence in the US. The NIH reports that one in five US adults live with a mental illness (59.3 million in 2022; 23.1% of the US adult population). So, thanks to America's out-of-control firearm problem and untreated mentally ill people or those with psychological problems, musicians and their fans have to pay these types of consequences.
