Former Smiths front man Morrissey is canceling his upcoming concerts at Foxwoods and MGM Music Hall due to a "credible threat on his life." Boston's MGM Music Hall posted this on Instagram: "In recent days, there has been a credible threat on Morrissey's life. Out of an abundance of caution for the safety of both the artist and band, tomorrow's engagement at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway has been cancelled." Noah Castellano (26) was arrested after he posted a threat against Morrissey on social media: "I will attempt to shoot you many times with a very large gun that I own illegally." Castellano was charged with making threats to cause death or bodily harm and released from custody on $5,000 bail. The lunatic was ordered to live at his father's Washington, DC home and some reports suggest that he may be a Canadian citizen from Ottawa.

Performers, speakers, and politicians will be cancelling public appearances out of an abundance of caution whenever a threat is made because of the reality of firearm violence in the US. The NIH reports that one in five US adults live with a mental illness (59.3 million in 2022; 23.1% of the US adult population). So, thanks to America's out-of-control firearm problem and untreated mentally ill people or those with psychological problems, musicians and their fans have to pay these types of consequences.

The Smiths had a unique method of producing their songs. The musicians would compose upbeat melodies or driving rhythmic tunes and Morrissey would show up at the studio to input his dark lyrics to their bright melodies, creating a clever counterpoint, to wit: www.youtube.com

*** Another Blow to Performers and their Fans ***

Sadly, Canada PM Mark Carney capitulated to pro-Israeli lobbyists to bar Kneecap, an Irish rap band, from entering the country. These musicians have been rightfully protesting the Gaza genocide in their performances. The Irish people have a long tradition of being persecuted, including remembering the manmade famine of 1847, and so they empathize with the starving Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the dispossessed victims in the West Bank.

Last year the murderous IDF fired on Irish UN Peacekeepers participating in UNIFIL; luckily no Irish soldiers were killed or wounded. Link: www.irishtimes.com

This is obviously censorship which stunned the members of Kneecap as Mark Carney himself was of late an Irish citizen until he surrendered his Eire passport when he became PM. A British performer named Bob Vylan was also banned from Canada for his pro-Palestinian position.

At least Ottawa will finally recognize the State of Palestine at the UN this month.

I saw Morrissey about 15 years ago. I guess I got lucky because it was a great show. He was in good vocal form, seemed to be enjoying himself, didn't get into any political bullshht, showed up on time and had a crack band with him. I always knew he was a little bit odd, but I didn't know he was a RWNJ. The guy threatening him may be even more of a nut job.

Anyway, I still love the Smiths.
