This has been Turnip's goal. To go with the Insurrection Act. It allows the military to bypass the Posse Comitatus Act and put military on the streets.

He can declare martial law but it's never been used to stop an election. It's not been tested under those circumstances. The law does say that the president has no say in elections, that it is up to states and the federal to control elections. What worries me in this is the "it's not been tested". Anyone that has seen what Turnip will go to in length knows he will use whatever vague law he can find to weasel into or out of whatever it is he seeks or if there is a gap the law leaves vague, he will seek to use that to his advantage.

It took no wizard to figure out when people start getting shot, protests come out. As it is ratchetted up, so to do the protests. You can pretty much bet this was done on purpose to all him to use the Insurrection Act. That's been the plan all along. I suspect in some way, he will seek to limit the election, make it far tougher for voting to occur, or perhaps, demand that citizens stay home under martial law, not allowing them to vote. It won't be said it's about blocking the vote but that will be the aim.

I call to your attention that all this pretty much is happening in only the Democrat run cities, with the exception of Louisiana who requested ICE's appearance. To me it looks more like Louisiana was the exception only to say it's not all Democratic run cities. By far the majority of actions have been in the blue states. Blocking the vote by demanding citizens stay off the streets would mean no opposition voting.
