During an interview with Reuters, when President Trump was told that a poll found tepid support among Americans for taking control of Greenland, Trump called the poll "fake." The president also expressed frustration that his Republican Party could lose control of the US House of Representatives or the Senate in this year's midterm elections. "It's some deep psychological thing, but when you win the presidency, you don't win the midterms," Trump whined. He boasted that he had accomplished so much that "when you think of it, we shouldn't even have an election."
NEW: White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump was "simply joking" when he said that "we shouldn't even have a midterm election," and clarified that the president was simply praising his administration's success.
