The Spanish government has announced a plan to legalise the status of undocumented migrants, a measure expected to benefit at least 500,000 people.
Spain's government is one of the more innovative ones in the EU. Their citizens are far more accepting of migrants and have resisted the pull to the right. Perhaps not surprising, as Spain knows a thing or two about living under a fascist government, having only dispensed of their own in 1975.

I have often stated, illegal aliens should leave the Country.
But I have always added the caveat of the effect that upon the economy.
So, maybe, Spain has come to a similar determination?

This is what Reagan did in the 80s. Amnesty for a few million undocumented people here with no criminal record.
Republicans would shoot Reagan down like a rabid dog if he did that today.
The Immigration Reform and Control Act legalized most undocumented immigrants who had arrived in the country prior to January 1, 1982. The act altered U.S. immigration law by making it illegal to knowingly hire illegal immigrants, and establishing financial and other penalties for companies that employed illegal immigrants. en.wikipedia.org
