There is a rumor in federal law-enforcement circles that Jimmy Hoffa was buried somewhere on the large Michigan property of a member of the notorious "Purple Gang," Jewish assassins in Detroit that were used by the Italian mob to whack other Italians because as out-of-town Jews they wouldn't be recognized by the target in NYC or Chicago.

This particular Purple Gang member allegedly helped dispose of bodies since his great asset was his large rural property.

I've driven through Kinderhook many times and will look for that episode you mentioned.

The original Goodfellas book was just as good as the film.

In Goodfellas, Nicholas Pileggi and Henry Hill didn't know precisely who Tommy's assassin was, so they used an "old-timer" for the scene.

Henry Hill and Nicholas Pileggi would learn after the movie was produced and released that Tommy's hitman was allegedly John Gotti.

Henry and his cohorts were Lucchese Crime Family (LCF), but John Gotti was Gambino Crime Family (GCF), like we have the Trumpf Crime Family (TCF).

Billy Batts grew up in the LCF part of Queens, but ended up in the GCF and a "made man."

John Gotti supposedly disapproved of the magnificent Lufthansa heist at the JFK cargo area, calling it a "crazy Mick job" [sic] that would bring too much federal heat on the five crime families, which it did.

But methinks Gotti was also a bit envious. JFK airport and the arteries in and out were LCF territory, hence the lucrative truck jackings and weekly tribute Big Paulie from Jimmy the Gent.
