The justice department is part of the executive branch, so there are no constitutional powers that are supposed to be separate.

Rather, Republicans have undone all of the norms and reforms established after Nixon and the Watergate scandal.

I think that GOP/MAGA has always believed that Trump would institute a dictatorship governing the Left and that they would be left alone.
