It was almost exactly this time 20 years ago that the bottom began to fall out on George W. Bush's approval ratings.

It was a wave election that year. Democrats flipped 8 seats in the senate and 21 in the House in Nov 2008. Dems ended up with about an 80 seat advantage in the House and a veto-proof majority in the Senate.
