Abortion-rights supporters in several states have used the citizen initiative process to protect access to the procedure. But voters in half the states don't have that right.

Here is Okiehomie the state legislature passed a law that requires petitioners for state-wide ballot issues to collect a minimum number of signatures IN EACH COUNTY, or else the measure does not get on the ballot. This, of course, dilutes the voting power of left-leaning voters in the Tulsa and OKC areas (where more than half of the state's population resides). The legislation came about only after Ohio voters placed the right to abortion on the state constitution. With seven of 77 OK counties having fewer than 5,000 residents, the legislation effectively kills petitions for state-wide measures. The majority of voters be damned...

The Republicans are using every trick, every loophole they can find to keep women as chattel in the states they control.

So it doesn't need to be on all state ballots for this election.

Just the swing states.

Once Democrats get control of the House and Senate again there is at least a better chance of being able help women regain their civil rights in Handmaiden states like Oklahoma.

Remember.. it took Republicans 50 years to finally overturn Roe v Wade.

It may take us a few decades to restore women's rights to their own bodies.

We will see if Americans have learned their lesson yet.

Elections do have consequences.

Sometimes those consequences will reach out and touch you personally.

The Trumpy Error killed over a million of us and it's still killing our women.

As long as it's not the federal government, everything is going exactly how it should. Voters can vote in the party they want if they want the laws to change. If some liberal lawmakers want abortion access but there are 5 of them and the district has voted in a million cons...then it's very apparent that the people want conservative laws. And vice versa, of course. The main point is, though, is that it should be fought at the state level. And I'm very glad that is happening now instead of the feds being involved in just another thing they shouldn't be based on our governing documents.

I don't get it.
Why should baby murder ever be legal?

Not when it is violation of woman's privacy and equal protections and due process under the US constitution.
