USGS says that a magnitude 7.0 earthquake has hit Northern California in Humboldt County. A tsunami warning has been issued by the National Weather Service. It was initially reported as a 6.6 quake but then was upgraded by USGS.

UPDATE: The tsunami threat has now passed, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.

It was centered near Ferndale.

It was a gentle rolling wave and no sudden shifts or movements.

Still a bit scary but very little damage reported so far.

My wife was in Costco. Nothing fell off the shelves.

Here at home my model rocket fell over.

The worst part was the tsunami alert which shut down shops and created a traffic headache. Looks like the Weather Service panicked a little. Better safe than sorry I guess.

Not to worry.

Trump is ending the weather service.

Now it will be a surprise. Like God intended.

Earthquakes are always a surprise. Tho we do get about 10 seconds notice from the USGS now. Which is way cool. That is if you are paying attention to your phone in that ten seconds.

It's them Floridians and those southern states that need to worry about Trumpy and his magic sharpies.
