Scores Dead as Tremor Strikes Tibet
At least 95 people have been confirmed dead and 130 are injured after a major earthquake struck the mountainous Tibet region on Tuesday morning, Chinese state media say.

I only made it as far as Lhasa, although relatively speaking Shigatse isn't that far from the capital. But I would have had to get another permit to travel there. I always felt the Tibetan people had more in common with Indians than Chinese, ethnically speaking.

Yes, there are a lot of Swastikas in Tibet. And in case you're wondering, yes, they go both ways, so you might get lucky.

It depends where you are in Tibet I suppose. Tibet is 90% Tibetian people with many small minorities. Tibet is also overwhelmingly Buddhist. That fits with neither of these countries. So ethnically speaking they are rather distinct. I honestly can't say who they have a closer ethnic tie to.
