Marc Elias: My Open Letter to Elon Musk

Marc Elias: Elon Musk recently posted on his site that another lawyer and I are "undermining civilization." He goes on to ask if we suffered childhood trauma and concludes by suggesting we are suffering from "generational trauma." This is my response.

I will use every tool at my disposal to protect this country from Trump. I will litigate to defend voting rights until there are no cases left to bring. I will speak out against authoritarianism until my last breath.

I will not back down. I will not bow or scrape. I will never obey.

Especially this part.

I used to believe that it was part of the American character not to be servile.

MAGA has sure changed my mind about that.

Not only do they bow and scrape, they are the sworn enemies of any who won't bow and scrape.

How did this happen?

How did a movement (MAGA) that says that it is intensely patriotic get to the point where it surrenders its pride and its freedom to a few low-class thugs?

My idea still is that MAGA never had pride and, at the very least, their definition of freedom is light-years away from what Americans considered it to be not that long ago.

I take great satisfaction in that Donald Trump is falling on his face so badly.

I take great fear in that the reaction of Donald Trump to failure will be yet more insanity and yet more repression.

Yeah, a lot of people will be hurt.

Jesus, a lot of people have already been hurt.

President Elon has the "gaslighting" down pat.

"If you don't support the current regime you must be suffering from some mental disorder".

No actual answer to the questions asked or the complaint proffered.

It got this way as the Average Joe. stuck in near poverty, despair, and malaise... came to worship money and wealth and those like the Oligarchs who have it.

Historically, this eventually turns out rather poorly for Elite as the pitchforks and the fires come out.

This time may be different though, as the Elite have created laws and leaders and weapons unlike any before; drones and robotic AI dog soldiers were never human, and have no loved ones back home to consider.

Just sayin'.
