North Korea publicly executed three men -- shooting each with 90 machine gun rounds -- for attempting to flee to democratic South Korea by boat. Authorities then burned their corpses in front of horrified residents of the town, who were forced to watch. The three victims, all in their 30s, had been caught in January. Public executions are a common occurrence in North Korea, for crimes like murder or human trafficking, or even distribution South Korean videos. Below, Kim Jong-un is photographed enjoying his cigarettes and light refreshment while his people starve. |
