Why it matters: An actual reset " with sharply lower tariffs or none at all " would be the relief businesses and investors have been praying for from a trade war that has already significantly damaged the economy.

A total reset in that the days when the US would not tariff Chinese goods but US goods were tariffed or denied access in the Chinese markets are over.

China has been utterly devastated in the last 30 days and Xi is fearing the collapse of the CCP. For the first time, massive protests are happening in China - previous protests were in Hong Kong only, never tolerated in the mainland.
