US Capitol Police, the same agency that defended Our Nation on 6 Jan 2021 from white supremacist insurrectionists, detained a group of unarmed, peaceful samaritans, zip-tying several people in wheelchairs who were protesting proposed cuts to Medicaid spending. People shouted slogans, among them "No cuts to Medicaid." During the event, vulnerable people held banners reading "Senate Republicans Don't Kill Us, Save Medicaid," and "60 Million Off Medicaid." Capitol Police confiscated at least two of the banners, one of which was briefly unfurled in a staircase in the building. Many of the people were in black shirts with slogans, including one that read "HEALTHCARE CUTS WILL KILL." The shirts also bore the logo of grassroots group Popular Democracy in Action. 34 people were arrested in the "People's House" simply for voicing their pleas to save Medicaid.
