Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

Trump posted an AI image on Truth Social which portrayed him as Lt. Col. Bill Kilgore from the movie "Apocalypse Now."

But whereas the fictional Kilgore said that he loved the smell of napalm in the morning, Trump's version said "I love the smell of deportations in the morning."

The image also included "Chipocalypse", as a reference to Trump's intention on having the military enter Chicago.

On the image was also 3 helicopter emojis, and this was not by accident.

"Crime crackdowns: The president is continuing to tease more federal action on crime in American cities, mulling on social media "Who's Next???"

Trump previously said a decision on a crime crackdown in Chicago would come in the "next day or two."

Meanwhile, Trump also decried the fatal stabbing of a Ukrainian refugee in North Carolina, adding that his administration will not tolerate violent crime and vowing "to get to the end of it."

Trump's approval rating:

Trump remains broadly underwater on his approval rating as two new polls find widespread opposition to his use of the National Guard against crime in American cities.

More people see Trump's deployment of the National Guard as a purely political move than as one designed to reduce crime."

Is every citizen going to get an armed escort to get them though their day?

"President Trump portends immigration actions with Chipocalypse Now' post; Gov. Pritzker calls it not normal'

"Chicago is about to find out why it's called the Department of WAR," Trump wrote, a day after signing an executive order to rename the Department of Defense to its pre-1949 title."

Illinois Democratic Gov. JB Pritzker, an ardent Trump foe who has vowed to go to court to fight a presidential deployment of the Guard, responded on the social media platform X by stating:

"The President of the United States is threatening to go to war with an American city."

"This is not a joke. This is not normal. Donald Trump isn't a strongman, he's a scared man. Illinois won't be intimidated by a wannabe dictator," Pritzker wrote."

The President of the United States is threatening to go to war with an American city.

It won't be a war. It will be a bunch of guys in camo parading around with the tourists shopping on the Magnificent Mile.

"Republicans in Congress are eager for Trump to expand his use of the military on US soil

Yet as Trump has dramatically stepped up his use of military force, fellow Republicans in Congress " where authorization for such actions is supposed to originate " have done little but cheer him on.

That's giving the president significant leeway as he raises plans to send troops next to Chicago, Baltimore and New Orleans."

The House is meeting now to authorize MORE troops on US soil.
