On 24 March 1926, US Army MG Fox Conner, the Army's deputy chief of staff, ordered an armed military guard to post watch at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the first Sentinel was posted the following morning.

Dummkopf Trumpf did not attend this centennial event which honored both America's Fallen and the Sentinels that have maintained a continuous non-stop vigil over the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier-- 24 hours a day, seven days a week-- since 25 March 1926.
