On 24 March 1926, US Army MG Fox Conner, the Army's deputy chief of staff, ordered an armed military guard to post watch at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the first Sentinel was posted the following morning.

Dummkopf Trumpf did not attend this centennial event which honored both America's Fallen and the Sentinels that have maintained a continuous non-stop vigil over the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier-- 24 hours a day, seven days a week-- since 25 March 1926.

You said it. Fox Conner is an unheralded sort of hero, a behind-the-scenes string puller-- not popular like a Smedley Butler, Chesty Puller, Eddie Rickenbacker. I can't think of any military base or weapon system named after him.

General Conner reminds me of the few talented composers who knew both Mozart and Beethoven-- like Salieri or Haydn. Those are the ones to interview or have over had parties.

Makes me want to read either some W. Somerset Maugham short stories or American Caesar.

So, Dummkopf Trumpf went to Graceland like a tourist and then spent this week watching his war on TV and videos, instead of attending this somber centennial event.
