... White House budget director Russ Vought told lawmakers Wednesday that the Trump administration hasn't settled on "a ballpark" range for how much funding it will ask Congress to approve for the Iran conflict.

"We're not ready to come to you with a request. We're still working on it. We're working through to figure out what's needed in this fiscal year versus next fiscal year," Vought said during testimony before the House Budget Committee on President Donald Trump's fiscal 2027 budget blueprint.

Republican lawmakers are eager to receive the White House's request for the Iran war, as GOP leaders discuss whether to fashion an emergency funding package that might attract Democratic votes or use the party-line reconciliation process to boost military spending. ...

So, it seems that the WH cannot give the Congressional GOP an estimate of the cost of the war?

Perhaps because Pres Trump does not know when the war might end?

Industry - State of the Nation (1983)

Lyrics excerpt ...

...
[Verse 1]
I see them marching off to war
They're looking so heroic
I'm told they won't be gone for long
But that's a lie and they know it
Ten thousand gone they won't return
Never to be seen again
Strategic games is all we learn in the end
But they say

[Chorus]
Don't you worry about the situation
A message from the telephone
They out there fighting for the state of the nation
I'm waiting a chance to come home
They always have to fight the alienation
And realize I'm fighting alone

[Verse 2]
When nightmares memories fades to dust
We'll get back on our feet again
This war has nothing to do with us
But somehow we're still involved in it

[Chorus]
Well, don't you worry about the situation
A message from the telephone
They out there fighting for the state of the nation
I'm waiting a chance to come home
Well, don't you worry about the situation
A message from the telephone
They always have to fight the alienation
And realize I'm fighting alone

[Bridge]
There's no place like home
There's no place like home
There's no place

I don't want to be anywhere else
There's no place like home
There's no place like home
There's no place

I don't want to be anywhere else
There's no place like home
There's no place like home
There's no place

I don't want to be anywhere else
There's no place like home
There's no place like home
There's no place

I don't want to be anywhere

[Chorus]
Don't you worry about the situation
They out there fighting for the state of the nation
Don't you worry about the situation

A message from the telephone
They always have to fight the alienation
And realize I'm fighting alone
They out there fighting for the state of the nation
I'm waiting a chance to come home
They always have to fight the alienation
And realize I'm fighting alone

[Outro]
There's no place like home
There's no place like home
There's no place like home
There's no place like home

Let's start with $1.2 trillion, and another tax cut for the wealthy.

We can check back in at the end of the month to see if we need more money.

Remember when we couldn't fund Medicare or SNAP because there wasn't any money?

@#5 ... Remember when we couldn't fund Medicare or SNAP because there wasn't any money? ...

Yup.

And now I am hearing reporting of the cost of Pres Trump's Iran war exceeding $1B per day.

Think about that ...

$!B per day. Yet the WH does not have a cost figure.

Hard question to answer. Are wars already cooked into the Pentagon budget? Are consumed munitions and fuel considered an added cost?

All the hardware and personnel are costing money all the time anyway. Does it matter what they are doing?

More pay and trophies serving in a war zone for sure, but it can't be that much more.

@#8 ... Hard question to answer. ...

I do not disagree.

But, based upon the planning the admin has done, there should be some manner of an estimate.

That is, if the admin actually did any planning.

That is, if the admin actually did any planning.

That is a much easier question to answer.
