This is the best guarantee of a true and just social peace in the future of our Fatherland. . . . Compatriots: This is, I repeat, a historic day whose significance will grow with the passing of the years. Today, the Revolutionary Government feels the deep emotion of a mission and a duty fulfilled. Today, on the Day of the Peasant, we look upon the citizenry with faith, pride, and hope; and we tell the entire nation of Peru that to its people we owe the inspiration of our actions, and to them today we deliver a law that will forge greatness and justice in its destiny. To the man of the land, we can now say out loud, in the immortal and liberating voice of Tpac Amaru: 'Peasant: the master will no longer feed off your poverty!'
