Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News

FBI Director Kash Patel stock trades has drawn the attention of some governmental watchdog groups. It has been reported that Patel invested in Krispy Kreme just weeks before the FBI released an advisory that indicated they are working with Krispy Kreme to investigate a group responsible for a 2024 data breach. Patel has also made stock trades involving other companies involved in recent government action including Intel, Nvidia, Palantir and Caterpillar.

Patel insists there is no appearance of conflict interest but he doesn't really explain if he knew the FBI was aiding Krispy Kreme or whether or not that assistance was provided before or after he invested in the company. He also won't say what he knew about Trump's plan for tariff announcements or deals with companies like Intel before he invested.

Sadly Patel's trades are some of the most ethical in this government. He resigned from the board of DJT (truth social) when he was confirmed. The other trades mentioned were sales of stocks he owned prior to confirmation in order to avoid any conflicts of interest. The only sketchy stuff is the $DNUT trade which was a meme stock so maybe he just reads /r wallstreetbets and not because he thought a related investigation would cause it to pop. The big one though is Elite Depot Ltd (Shein) which he got through "consulting" with them and has refused to divest and in fact is still getting vested in it.

So while the subject of the article is a nothing burger it did lead me to learning about the Director of the FBI getting payment from a shady Chinese company.
