Instead of staying in Washington this weekend to remedy the government shutdown their own party caused, these Republicans will enjoy an opulent resort, featuring three immaculately curated golf courses, a spa and fitness center and a picturesque white sand beach. These Republican Senators are fundraising from oligarchs and lobbyists at an opulent retreat that most of their constituents couldn't afford. Prices at the elite resort range from $495 per night for a Garden Wing Room to $599 per night for the Beach Club One Bedroom Suite. Marjorie Taylor-Greene (R-GA) criticized Senate Republicans for the government shutdown and milquetoast House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) urged his GOP colleagues not to hold luxurious fundraisers with the superrich after wrecking the economy and their constituents are having trouble making ends meet.
