Trump's murders on the high sea deserve legal retribution, but also show why we need an entirely new foreign policy.

Nice to see a Democratic Senator speak directly about Trump administration criminality without couching it in careful consultant-speak or trying to force it into an economic frame. But Hegseth won't be fired for war crimes. He was appointed *because* he advocates war crimes. It's up to Congress.

"Trump's criminal attacks on boats in the Western Hemisphere is part and parcel of a larger reassertion of imperialism justified by the Monroe Doctrine.

The new imperialism can also be seen in visible interference in elections in Argentina and Honduras, using threatened cuts to aid and loans to coerce voters into electing right-wing governments."

Lots more at the link.

As I've mentioned a few times here, Trump, Vlad, and Xi have divvied up the world already, and the New Imperialism is the new money machine.

Hi Corky:

Lots of folks agree with you on many points. Even me.

ICYMI: The malevolent Trumpf junta sent a military delegation to the Philippines.

""We share concerns about China's coercion in the South China Sea, particularly recently in Scarborough Shoal," Pete "Hic!" Hegseth bleated.

This could just be "window dressing" for the hoi polloi if indeed the three Titans have divvied up Pangaea as your article stipulates.

"Hegseth says U.S. has "only just begun" sinking alleged drug vessels

"We've only just begun striking narco-boats and putting narco-terrorists at the bottom of the ocean because they've been poisoning the American people," Hegseth said from the president's side.

The Defense Department's Law of War Manual uses shooting shipwrecked survivors as an example of an illegal order that service members are obligated to refuse.

The manual also states that those "who have been incapacitated by wounds, sickness, or shipwreck are in a helpless state, and it would be dishonorable and inhumane to make them the object of attack."

"Hegseth cites fog of war' in defending follow-on strike in scrutinized attack on alleged drug boat"

Is that his new favorite highball, a Fog of War?
