The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has announced that they shot down a sophisticated USAF MQ-9 Reaper drone over the Strait of Hormuz using a "modern and advanced" air defense system. Two dozen MQ-9s have been destroyed since the start of the illegal and reckless US war against Iran on Israel's behalf, nearly 20% of the DOD pre-war inventory. At $30m per airframe, the total cost to the American taxpayer is estimated at approximately $1 billion. General Atomics, the manufacturer, has confirmed that fewer than ten new airframes remain available for purchase and the production line for the MQ-9A has been shut down.
