In 2025, at least 40,000 people were shot -- more than 110 a day across the country -- and approximately 39,000 of those victims were killed (or 0.0112% of the US population).

By contrast, peaceful Canada with strict firearm regulations and a population of 41,417,056 people -- one-ninth of the US -- suffered a grand total of 221 firearm-related homicides in 2025, less than one a day (or 0.000533% of Canada's population).
