On this day 53 years ago, CIA-backed General Augusto Pinochet overthrew the democratically elected government of socialist Salvador Allende in Chile, leading to the deaths of an estimated 40,018 innocent victims during his 17 year Reign of Terror, including Nobel Prize laureate Pablo Neruda. Ten years prior on 2 Nov 1963, CIA overthrew the notorious Ngo Dinh Diem in Saigon, South Vietnam. Exactly 28 years to the day after the bloody coup d'etat to prevent the nationalization of two enormous US copper mining companies in Chile, CIA-trained mujahadin based in Afghanistan conducted a kamikaze mega-attack on America, resulting in the deaths of 2,977 victims in the World Trade Center in NYC, the Pentagon, and a crash site in Pennsylvania.

In Chile, the Bosch kept busy rounding up defenseless victims of "the first 9/11."
