Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Friday, September 11, 2026

On this day 53 years ago, CIA-backed General Augusto Pinochet overthrew the democratically elected government of socialist Salvador Allende in Chile, leading to the deaths of an estimated 40,018 innocent victims during his 17 year Reign of Terror, including Nobel Prize laureate Pablo Neruda. Ten years prior on 2 Nov 1963, CIA overthrew the notorious Ngo Dinh Diem in Saigon, South Vietnam. Exactly 28 years to the day after the bloody coup d'etat to prevent the nationalization of two enormous US copper mining companies in Chile, CIA-trained mujahadin based in Afghanistan conducted a kamikaze mega-attack on America, resulting in the deaths of 2,977 victims in the World Trade Center in NYC, the Pentagon, and a crash site in Pennsylvania.

In Chile, the Bosch kept busy rounding up defenseless victims of "the first 9/11."

  • The CIA-trained global guerillas of al-Qaida referred to the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center (WTC) as the "Battle of New York." One of the NYC victims at the WTC included amiable FDNY firefighter "Vinnie X" from Queens, NY.

  • Tragically, the people of Chile suffered a "9/11" seismic political catastrophe which lasted 17 years, nearly three decades before Americans were stunned by what a wide body of political analysts described as "blowback."
  • "The full extent of CIA involvement in Chile remains unknown because only a portion of its documents have been declassified."

  • Below, CIA victim Pablo Neruda, 1971 Nobel Prize laureate, and just one of 40,018 murdered Chilean victims of the "first 9/11":

Only an idiot apologist doesn't get it. Ask 1,000 people what 9/11 means, none will mention Chile.

    9.

For a long time in my work, I insisted that 9/11 be clarified to be Sept. 11, 2001, because it's gonna happen again someday to the US on an anniversary, and 9/11 won't be so clear.

Ask 1,000 people what January 6 means. (One will say mail-in ballots.)

9/11/2001: Massive US security mistakes (questionable) leading to war and ginning up of anti-Muslim hate.

What did it mean? In retrospect, it's not a good look for anyone but the victims and the people who tried to deal with the wreckage.
