Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has 148 "open allegations" of agent misconduct and potential criminal wrongdoing, including sexual assault, bribery and drug smuggling, from the last three years, internal records obtained by Newsweek show.

The disclosures further document 10 service weapon discharge incidents that required mandatory reporting.

Newsweek requested records under the Freedom of Information Act relating to ICE agents nationwide under investigation for criminal or misconduct allegations. In response, ICE provided a log of what it called "open allegations."

ICE's log showed 18 cases open from 2023, 69 from 2024, and 61 from 2025.

The period includes the start of a rapid rise in ICE agent recruitment. The Homeland Department said in January that ICE bolstered its ranks of officers and agents from roughly 10,000 to 22,000 in less than a year. ...

Hitler's Brownshirts (SA) experienced similar problems with violent, generally antisocial behavior exhibited by its membership. Interestingly, the Gestapo not so much; it was a more professionalized operation than either ICE or the SA.
