This was the biggest week in American politics in a hundred years, and I'm not being cute about it. Bigger than Watergate in '74. Bigger than 1980, 1994, 2006, 2010 or 2018. Democrats took the House, they took the Senate, and they took governor's mansions in states where Republicans had stopped bothering to read their own polls. They took state legislatures, broke state supermajorities, swept local races for school boards and county commissions. I've been preaching the rule for years. I named a book after it. Everything Trump Touches Dies. It's as close as politics gets to Newtonian physics, and the only variable is how long it takes. Some victims go fast, some go slow, but the rule collects from every one of them, and on Tuesday it came for MAGA. When I said, "Everything," I meant Everything. Don't get smug yet. MAGA isn't in the ground. The media machine is still humming, and the tech bros, the private equity guys, the lobbyists, and the whole incentive structure that pays people to be cruel on camera will lick their wounds for a few months and then show up with the defibrillator paddles for 2028. Elon Musk isn't going to start cutting checks to Jon Ossoff. And Trump still has two years left with every power of the presidency, nuclear codes included, surrounded by people who will never tell him no. He's lost a lot of juice. He hasn't lost the keys.

Texas was supposed to be Trumpism distilled down to 190 proof. Oil and gas, the rugged-individualist cosplay, a Republican political culture thirty years deep and donor money for days. Democrats blew the doors off. James Talarico beat Ken Paxton, the first Democrat to win a Senate race in Texas since 1988. Gina Hinojosa beat Greg Abbott, governor for life, by seven. Vikki Goodwin took out Dan Patrick. Nathan Johnson won the AG's office Paxton left behind. ==> Democrats won every statewide executive office on the ballot, right down to the Railroad Commission, which sounds like a museum exhibit and actually runs the oil and gas business in that state. They took the Texas House for the first time in over twenty years. Ted Cruz is now the only statewide Republican official Texas has left. Poor, lonely Ted. Trump and Paxton are the same creature, corrupt and lazy and cheating, and Texans finally figured that out.

Ohio is a fundamental brick in every Republican path to 270. Amy Acton just won the governorship by seven, the first Democrat to do it in twenty years, after Vivek Ramaswamy and his pals dropped more than $100 million on her head, including the horrific closing ad starring her estranged mother. Vivek never wanted to run Ohio. It was a parking spot on the way to a presidential run. He will now never be president of anything, up to and including his local pickleball club.

"So, when is shrimptacodan gonna come along and explain all of this happening in his beloved BLUE Texas"
Right after he apologizes for lying about Tallarico going to a mental health center.
I have my calendar marked for the 12th...of Never.

Best footnote from Michigan: Haley Stevens lost her primary, endorsed Rogers, and has reportedly moved on to endorsing LIV Golf over the PGA.

a snip just for danni:
And even Florida tells the story. Donalds won by a point or two in a state Trump carried by thirteen. Florida swung almost twelve points toward Democrats, and every one of the 67 counties moved left except Sumter, home of The Villages. Ron DeSantis called the national result a political meteor strike, and his big consolation was that Florida is the last of the ten biggest states still under Republican control. Ron, if that's your victory lap, I'd hate to see your eulogy.

Catturd and Libs of TikTok and the rest of the clown car are melting down in real time, and Benny Johnson sat with Ron Johnson this week with the copium up to their eyebrows, promising we'll all be living under communism in two years. These people built entire careers on the lie, and they'll be back with a half-step of distance from Trump and a fresh coat of paint, preaching to a smaller and crazier crowd every year.
