The GOP can talk it up as an election issue on the border, Trump can beat his drum all he wants. It still comes down to the same thing. They were handed the very bill they demanded and because Trump wants it to be an election theme to drum on, they are refusing what they demanded. It tells me they aren't really serious about the border. Every time one of them hollers about the border now, I'll remember this action instead of what they'd like for me to be thinking they stand for.
Personally, I want the border shut down to migrants coming through any place other than the points of entry. It's strained the budget of Texas far too long. Those sanctuary cities are only getting a small taste of what's happening down here and what it costs to house, feed, clothe, medical, in costs. They are screaming to high heaven about those costs. Heaven help them if they actually got the real amount coming through. As long as it was not in their backyard, they didn't have a concern.
The GOP has shown it's colors with the abortion issue and now with the immigration issue. As far as I am concerned, it's time for this party to go the way of the Whigs.
Just another response to the damage that has been done employer/employee relationship, all in the name of saving a buck. Had this sort of behavior not become widespread, no law would have been necessary.
I once had a job where I might have to respond to a pager back in the day at any hour. Of course I was on salary but that company did provide perks for that requirement so I really didn't have bitches over a 2 am call. It was one of the responsibilities that came with the job. I guess the thing about that was it was up front what was expected. A truck coming in from Canada or Texas, might need the yard opened to unload at 2 am. One of the nice perks was a pickup for my personal use, among others.
My point in the above, was it was a trade off, you get benefits for doing the out of hours.
