Despite loud opposition from constituents and progressive lawmakers against such a move, Democratic Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) took to the Senate floor Thursday evening to announce he would vote to advance a Republican spending bill that critics say would "sacrifice the needs of working people at the altar of the ultra-wealthy" and greenlight further chaos and destruction by Dotard Trump and his Oligarch-in-Chief Felon Musk. read more
Russian forces allegedly executed five Ukrainian prisoners of war (POWs) in Kursk Oblast. A video circulating on social media purportedly shows unarmed Ukrainian soldiers killed after being captured by Russian troops. "We once again see a cynical disregard for international humanitarian law on the part of the Russian army," a Ukrainian spokesman said, adding that he had sent letters to the UN and the ICRC to document the suspected war crime. The news comes as Russian President Vladimir Putin made his first visit to Kursk Oblast on 12 Mar since Ukraine launched its cross-border incursion into the region in August 2024. Russian and Wagnerites have been committing war crimes against Ukrainians since Feb 2022. An ICC international arrest warrant remains active for Vladimir Putin. Link: ukraine.un.org read more
A drug-resistant fungus, Candida Auris, is spreading rapidly in US hospitals, posing a severe threat to patients who need invasive medical equipment. Georgia has seen over 1,300 cases as of the end of Feb 2025. Candida Auris, or C. Auris, is particularly dangerous in health care settings, where it spreads easily through invasive medical equipment such as breathing tubes, feeding tubes, syringes, or catheters. The fungus is resistant to many household cleaners and traditional hospital disinfectants, like ammonia-based cleaning solutions. C. Auris is not a threat to the general public. read more

According to the CBSA, before entering Canada Trumpf would have to fill out paperwork explaining his criminal conviction and requesting a "pardon" from Ottawa. Maybe Canadians on DR could explain it better. Here's what I read: www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca
Sound argument from Schumer, but the more progressive elements of the Democratic Party don't agree with him. I will trust Bernie's erudition before Chuckie's: www.commondreams.org
The US is a banana republic with nuclear weapons led by a Russian asset. Now we are going to be a "disease haven." Terrific. Meanwhile the fat cat American oligarchs continue to enrich themselves and Vladimir Putin maintains his designs on the fabulous mineral wealth under the melting ice at the North Pole. No wonder that Trumpf has Americans and Canadians at each other's throats. news.bbc.co.uk

Thanks, Sitzkrieg. I'm a ground guy. To me there are slow movers and fast movers, friendly or enemy. Last year, Macron went to Saudi Arabia pushing this fighter on MBS; maybe he won't buy them now. defencesecurityasia.com
