The fugitive slave was considered a criminal back during the first 60 years of this oh-so great nation's history: 1790s-1850s. Not only was the fugitive slave a criminal, but the people of conscience who harbored him in their churches and homes and schools- what we now commonly know as the underground railroad.

Trump certainly believes in racial purity or, in other words, white supremacy, but this is secondary to his overarching belief in "Trump purity", which is the idea that the only humans who are truly "pure" are those who have sworn absolute fealty to Trump and to his ideals and decisions alone.

This is very similar to Zionism or, if you will, "Israel purity" which designates those who do not swear absolute fealty to Israel as mortal enemies and worthy of oppression and, if they fight back, extermination.

I'm more concerned about the half century-long alliance of America and Israel because both sides of the aisle support it, not just one.

Nearly every day there's some new escalation in the America-driven efforts to stomp out speech that is critical of Israel. Americans need to understand that the situation has moved far beyond the point where Israel is a threat only to middle eastern lives: it's now threat to all, because American and other western governments who support it are stomping out basic freedoms with increasing aggression in order to silence all criticisms of not just Israel's ongoing abuses, but of its own.

Zionism is a political ideology which upholds the decision by western countries to drop an abusive apartheid ethnostate on top of a pre-existing civilization in historic Palestine and then defend it by any amount of violence and tyranny necessary.

The majority of the people you see defending this evil are non-Jewish westerners with no connection to the Jewish faith, so to equate Zionism solely with Judaism (and vice-versa) is just a casus belli to crack down on righteous dissent and, more broadly, free speech.

To answer your question, in a way: MAGA is the reason. Trump is a destroyer, not a creator. Traditional "creative" artists work in oils or stone or in clay, but Trump is fundamentally a "political iconoclast", so his medium of choice is that he destroys that which has been already created and then declares to his many followers that the value of the rubble pile that remains is much greater than what came before it. And they buy into it. Again and again.

My point of view (religious/Islamic) is that pure political order is inherently immoral/amoral and fundamentally corrupt. Even some pragmatic concern for the prosperity and security of the populace is tainted with the wickedness of certain men like Trump who come to power in largely legitimate (Democratic) ways. Trump also believes this, but his fundamental characteristic is that he (a classic charismatic) is a master at manipulating and embodying many simple-minded people's beliefs that he (and he alone) can reverse that immorality and corruption to restore American political order to a moral and uncorrupted state. A state that was never even there to begin with.
