There are several past Republican Party Speakers of the House who, I am sure, read the headline that Mike Johnson is being run ragged by the members, and laugh a very dark laugh. Not the first time a minority of fanatics ran the show.

When one goes by I have the same reaction...it is more ugly than anything, and there is nothing that can be done to make it anything but a political statement...That Musk at times is an idiot.

Let's see, it is a monumentally stupid idea to put thousands of American boots on the ground in Iran.
The war will drag on as the Vietnam War dragged on unless something is done.
America could, in effect, pull a "Vietnam" and declare victory and go away, far away.
Or...and here is my nightmare that actually could happen, Iran could decide to attack the American homeland with a major terrorist attack, kill hundreds, and then all bets would be off...we would be Israel, in effect.

Well, if Trump can gin up a homeland major terrorist attack, as Hamas attacked Israel, Trump and his gang will sail through the midterms and the 2028 elections.
It worked for Netanyahu, as I am told he actually let Hamas be funded, and then he made sure the borders were weakened exactly where Hamas broke through.

Yup, our leaders in government are bewildered as to how to proceed with getting things done...
They, at least, get a vote once in awhile, meanwhile, we in the 'great unwashed' out here....all we have is one tiny vote we can cast this November 3. And then, if he doesn't resign, we have to watch a guy with his thick thumbs on the nuclear button run things into the ground for two more years.

It has been a long time since last I saw a rational, reasonable argument about anything coming from this White House...and experts warn that his cognitive decline will only get worse. One wonders if he orders, out of the blue, for our military to drop a bomb on Cuba, just for the hell of it, or on some American city, is our military leadership capable of fighting his decline in any way?He is the President but he is not safe to do much but order lunch.

"We", of course, as in "We are going to make a lot of money"...includes him and his entire grifting gang, and of course, the billionaire caste, who are on schedule to turn America into Russia, where a pretend rule of law pretend democracy runs things for the rich.

So, Trump wanted to know who the Jews were who were at Penn so they could somehow "protect those Jews from being outed, or otherwise oppressed? Methinks the Trump effort is just to find a way to divide Penn employees and students one from another, as he has done for our population at large.

If a vaccine saves a thousand little children but five have side effects...is that a reason to stop the vaccine from being available? I am sure the polio vaccine had problems for some people. In fact, just put "polio vaccine had problems" into google and read of some of the disasters...but still, polio got stopped.

It could be fun to fix America, but first come the elections. November 3, 2026, Election Day can be a day of liberation for the American people from the domination by the far right oligarch party, Republican Party , people who clearly are working to make sure America falls as the Soviet Union fell, to the great profit of the billionaires who looted the treasury.
Vote Democrat...and know that if even one House of Congress is taken from billionaire control, that will mostly stop the Trump attack on our democracy.
Ask those who lived through the sixties, if there was a lot of energy, fun even, in telling Nixon and his rich buddies, to....well, stop the wars against the Vietnamese people and internally, the Amierican people as well.

Propaganda works...all you have to do is make sure your fanatics never watch a news outlet that tells the truth...instead have them watch Fox News all the time, as their fear buttons get punched and hate is the order of the day.
One does wonder just when MAGA will wake to how much they have been lied to.

It could be fun to fix America, and the start would be to make sure the very rich understand that offshoring their corporations led to their profit but to the impoverishment of the American workers, at least a lot of them. So tariffs, trying to pull American business back onshore makes some sense, but in the end they profit the rich, who can weather the storm, and sooner or later tariffs have to end as there is now no way to make stuff cheaper than subsidizing China.
But those aforementioned American corporations can do it, bring those jobs back, if they knew that their rich stockholders would be paying massive "dues" in taxes.

Fundamentally, our Middle East policy is tragic. There is, was, and probably always will be a civil war going on Sunni (Saudi) versus Shia (Iran)...and we for the longest time have invested in the Saudis empire of oil. That in no way elevates democracy, the rule of law, women's rights, and all the rest. Instead of investing in renewable energy to save our planet from human caused global warming we have invested in hell itself, as a few American politicians and others get rich, and the future groans with fear.

And what exactly is Trump's "constitutional authority"? To what standard does he in fact bend his own knee...? He seems to be in favor of a Russianized legal system with a pretend rule of law, where the oligarchy rules as gods.

And once again the BBC demonstrates the courage necessary in this time of peril for independent media.

AGain, I sit and wonder, has Trump ever done anything of service for all Americans, especially for we at the bottom third of the economic pyramid? The lies around the reflecting pool debacle are not the best lies, since a lot of people wandered around and took photos of the clearly poorly fixed pool. Trump can do better, maybe in his "communists...we are assailed by reds" nonsense his lies will be halfway sensible. Not holding my breath, as one of those progressives, I expect he is about labeling all of us as enemies of his state...of wealth.

Cheaper usually means worse...and private law enforcement is a dangerous entity.

Silly me, I thought we elected lawmakers to try and make America a happy, healthy place for all, and to take food from the very poor...well, I guess that does make monsters like Musk happy.

Greed being god for the Trump gang...there clearly is something in ignoring the China connection at this time. Another Trump golden hotel in China? I sincerely doubt it is something that works for the good of the American people but for the Trump gang...of course.
