No, it wasn't staged. He was shot and he did die. You could see him go into decorticate posture before falling off the chair in a shower of blood.

But what doesn't make sense is the official story from FBI/LE.

You can't see a gun when the kid jumps off the roof, so they claim it was disassembled (and put down his pants...for him to jump off a two-story building with?). Except disassembly of that kind of rifle takes special tools and a fair bit of time without breaking it down enough to matter.

But then they say they found the gun intact in the woods with his fingerprints on it and conveniently engraved cartridges still in it.

Not to mention the supposed Discord "confession" that read like it was written by a bunch of middle-aged dudes trying to sound like weirdo kids...

And since then, they've been entirely tight lipped about any of it despite it being a major event that should be given significant coverage. No motive. No statements from the "shooter." No real new information from law enforcement. No coverage of the trial.

It's my understanding that the primary defenses against sinking is compartmentalization to limit damage and control flooding. Complex internal structures = more steel needed.

Also, would high tensile steels be what are used for naval ships? Or would you want softer steel to absorb and deform when struck, rather than shatter or crack?

I've lived rural life. I grew up in a small town of about 2,000 people in upstate NY. People have moved in around my parent's house now and ruined it with flood lights and clear-cutting wooded land to build McMansion s*&^, but when I lived there it was pitch black at night. Could see the Milky Way during the summer. Maybe two cars a day would drive past.

I've since lived in everything from a small city that is that state's capital to the third largest city in the country.

My return to rural living would be entirely voluntary and a stereotypical story of someone who left, experienced more than their small slice of America and decided to go back.
