FACT FOCUS: Trump repeated election lies in his interview with Joe Rogan. Here are the facts
apnews.com

... In his three-hour interview with podcaster Joe Rogan, Donald Trump dug in on his false claims about voting, election fraud and his loss in the 2020 presidential election. Rogan helped encourage some of these claims.

The interview, released late Friday, came on the same day that the former president, on his social media network, re-posted threats to prosecute lawyers, voters and election officials he deems to have "cheated" in the 2024 election.

Here's a look at some of the claims by the Republican nominee for president and the truth. ...

Donald Trump Tells Joe Rogan the Biggest Mistake' of His Presidency Was Picking Bad,' Disloyal People'
variety.com

... Donald Trump sat down with Joe Rogan to record a three-hour interview for "The Joe Rogan Experience" podcast Friday. The episode was released later Friday evening.

In the wide-ranging discussion, Trump said his biggest mistake during his time in the White House was hiring "bad people, or disloyal people." The former president also repeated unsubstantiated claims that the 2020 election was "rigged" -- but when Rogan asked him if he was going to release evidence proving the election was "stolen," Trump changed the subject. ...

Trump records a 3-hour interview with Joe Rogan about the election, Harris and whales
www.nbcnews.com

... The former president said he was the "opposite of a dictator" in the interview with the popular podcast host.

In a highly anticipated interview, Donald Trump touched on a wide range of cultural and political issues Friday night in an three-hour conversation with Joe Rogan, who hosts one of the biggest podcasts in the world.

The recording went on so long that Trump arrived several hours late to his rally that night in Traverse City, Mich. Frustrated at having to wait so long, many people left.

The Rogan interview is a continuation of Trump turning to nontraditional media outlets, including podcasts, in the weeks leading up to Election Day. Rogan also invited Vice President Kamala Harris to do an interview, but her campaign has declined. Rogan's podcast has more than 17 million YouTube subscribers.

Much of the interview, which put online around 10 p.m. Friday night, was rehashed commentary Trump has expressed throughout the campaign.

He said the war in Ukraine would never have happened if he were president, complained about moderators not fact-checking Vice President Kamala Harris enough during her one debate with Trump, blasted the traditional media, did things like continue to frame Harris and Democrats as more dangerous than foreign foes and dabbled in conspiratorial talk about the 2020 election being stolen.

Rogan at one point asked Trump to provide examples of how the 2020 election was stolen, as he has long falsely claimed. Trump gave a largely rambling answer that touched on election law changes that he said did not get proper legislative approval. ...

Israel says retaliatory strikes against Iran 'completed'
www.dw.com

... The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out strikes against military targets in Iran early Saturday morning.

The Israeli military then said it has ended its retaliation on Iran about three hours after it first announced the news. It also warned Iran against further escalation.

The IDF said the strikes were in response to "months of continuous attacks from Iran." Israel had long vowed to respond to Iran's missile attack on its territory on October 1.

The Iranian assault followed the killing of the leader of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, in late September in Lebanon.

It also followed the killing of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh, who was killed by an explosion in Tehran in July that Iranian officials blamed on Israel. ...

4 Non Blondes - What's Up (1992)

Lyrics excerpt...

genius.com

...
25 years and my life is still
Tryin' to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination
I realized quickly when I knew I should
That the world was made up of this brotherhood of man
For whatever that means

[Pre-Chorus]
And so I cry sometimes when I'm lying in bed
Just to get it all out what's in my head
And I, I am feeling a little peculiar
And so I wake in the morning and I step outside
And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream from the top of my lungs
"What's going on?"

[Chorus]
And I say, hey-ey-ey
Hey-ey-ey
I said "Hey, a-what's going on?"
And I say, hey-ey-ey
Hey-ey-ey
I said "Hey, a-what's going on?"

@#2 ... The one part of this op ed that rang true to me is that Democrats aren't focused on issues that are most important to voters, they are focused on issues that are important to themselves. ...

I'm not yet convinced of that.

For starters, I think there is a distinction between national and state elections.

Nationally, yeah, I'd tend to agree with your comment at this point. The Democrats (a.k.a. the Harris campaign) seems to have blown it. But, how badly have they blown it? Nov 5 will tell. ...

But in state elections?

I'm not convinced of that opinion yet.

The issues are too local for me to understand each and every one of them.

I mean, my preference is just listening to music and occasionally reading news articles.

e.g.

Meat Puppets - Backwater (1994)

Cool vid, but it sounds different than the version I have in my music pool.

But to the point of your comment...

This Is Why You Don't Recognize Your State Government
www.bloomberg.com

... The impact on policy has been asymmetrical. For the past quarter-century, the public has become more progressive on many social issues, according to Gallup.

Blue trifecta states have moved with it, namely on abortion, gender identity, climate change, guns, immigration and voting rights.

Red trifectas, meanwhile, have hewed to their base and to policies that receive majority support only half the time -- rejecting Medicaid expansion, relaxing gun laws and cutting unemployment insurance. To many voters in the 23 Republican trifecta states, representative government is not representing them. ...

So the governing politicians in the Red trifecta states seem to dictate what they want to see in the behavior of their supporters, even when a majority of those supporters disagree with their enactments.

While the governing politicians in the Blue trifecta states seem to enact what their supporters want to see.

Republicans accuse FTC Chair Lina Khan of overstepping in civil rights case: Waste of taxpayer resources' (October 10, 2024)
nypost.com

... Two House GOP committee chairs have accused Federal Trade Commission Chairperson Lina Khan of overstepping the limit of her powers and wasting taxpayer dollars in the process.

Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and House Committee on Energy and Commerce Chairwoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) sent a letter to Khan Thursday saying they were investigating a recent lawsuit by the FTC accusing Arizona-based Coulter Motor Company of discriminating against Latino patrons.

On average, Latino customers paid roughly $1,200 more in interest and other fees relative to their non-Latino white peers, the FTC alleged. The agency partnered with the state of Arizona on the case and the two sides came to a proposed $2.6 million settlement in August. ...

So, no surprise the GOP seems to have major issues with FTC Chairperson Khan.

She seem to be fighting for people, and not corporations.

John Hall - Plutonium is forever (1979)
www.youtube.com

Lyrics excerpt...

genius.com

...
Everybody's wondering if mankind is cursed
He's ruining the sky and the ocean even worse
But I'll predict the cause of his eradication from the earth
Oh, oh, oh, oh, plutonium is forever

Now, oil slicks someday will disappear
We'll stop dumping PCBs in a few years
But there is one pollutant that we should really fear
Oh, oh, oh, oh, plutonium is forever
But will it go away?
For our purposes, never
It will be here past today
Yes, plutonium is forever

Now, carbon monoxide can only steal your breath
Asbestos poisoning give the workers a horrible death
The aerosol and the Concorde make sure there's no ozone left

Now, some want the oil companies to have to face divestment

And some want the utility to be denied the rate adjustment

But now they're all after plutonium, they think it's such a good investment
Because oh, oh, oh, oh, plutonium is forever
...

An amazing tune But I have to ask...

Prescient?
