However, it's clear that Trump will face opposition, both from foreign leaders who want to see America fail and even domestic adversaries such as Democrats.

Without any congressional legislation Biden deemed these people "legal" all by his lonesome. And they were flown in.

Now their legal status is being revoked.

It's become increasingly clear as more and more trickles out that Biden wasn't calling the shots. On a day to day basis it must have been a small cadre of his inner circle. From a broader policy perspective my guess is Obama was setting the agenda and was using someone like Susan Rice to communicate it. Once his kids were off to college he bucked tradition and maintained his DC residence for a reason.

It's a risky move but Trump is trying do something about the trade deficit and bring more manufacturing back to the US.

There are other objectives with these tariffs that would benefit the US and American workers.

We should hope it works instead of hoping Trump fails.

However, people who don't want to work and want to sponge off of everyone else might not see the benefits or even care.

For decades the economy has functioned around short term thinking.

Short term benefits with long term consequences.

Trumps tariffs theoretically will have the opposite effect.

Long term term benefits with short term consequences.

That approach to problem solving doesn't help you get reelected.

He will likely not be in office when the long term benefits begin to take effect and whomever is in office will take all the credit.

Let's hope Trump's ideas work and the short term "pain" isn't too bad.
