And for the record, I've still got several long guns at home and a substantial amount of ammo, but everything is always locked in my gun safe. Also for the record, I'm a bleeding-heart Liberal who has always been around guns (I got my first rifle when I was nine-years old) but we were taught that guns were dangerous and that you never left them unlocked, particularly when children were around. I'm not saying that we need to do away with the 2nd Amendment, but there's nothing in it to prevent Congress from passing stronger gun laws, including universal background checks, and some consideration in limiting access to certain types and classification of guns. I was 14-years old when I went hunting for the first time with what could be considered a high-powered rifle. And when I was in the Army Reserves I had to qualify on what was a true assault rifle and while I was impressed by it's lethality, I would have never considered it as something that I would have taken into the woods during deer season. Not only would it have been 'overkill', it was also something that would have been inappropriate and out of place, at least back when I was still hunting (I've not actually been hunting in a couple of decades).

When I was in college (this was in northern Michigan) in the mid-60's, we had gun lockers in the dorm. Now we had to keep all our guns and ammo in the lockers (I had a rifle and a shotgun) and if we needed to clean or repair our guns, it had to be done in the gun room, where they provided a workbench, complete with a vise and a place to work. The university also had an indoor shooting range and we used to go down by the lake to shoot clay pigeons (I had a hand-trap, which I also kept in my gun locker).

This appears to be a different approach than how the RNC is handling this. When Lara Trump, Donald Trump's daughter-in-law, was made the co-chair at the RNC she announced that a portion of all campaign contributions to Republican congressional candidates coming through the RNC's office would be transferred to Trump's presidential campaign (of course, it was never disclosed how much of this would eventually be directed toward covering his legal expenses).

Trump is now suggesting that the incident at Arlington National Cemetery was a set-up by the Harris/Walz campaign. That when they heard about Trump's visit to the cemetery they sent a person to 'ambush' Trump and his people and make a scene for the national media. Of course, that doesn't explain his campaign violating the policies of the Department of the Army by posting images and videos on social media, showing Trump at the grave sites of fallen Marines, with accompanying audio comments about Biden and Harris.

Note that this particular booster, this was IT'S 23rd flight. I suspect that SpaceX more than broke even on the life-cycle cost. But the point is that if SpaceX had just allowed this boosters to crash into the ocean, like every OTHER launch system currently in use, there would have been no issue whatsoever. BTW, occasionally SpaceX does not attempt to recover a booster, usually when the flight operation requires the use of all the fuel onboard, generally for a heavier payload or one that needs to be inserted to a higher orbit, but in those instances, the client has to pay the full cost of the booster since there's no 'refund' for turning-in the old one.

The SpaceX issue is a bit lame. They lost a booster due to a mishap that happened at sea, the first incident in a couple of years. No one was at risk due to the accident. No private property was destroyed, other than the rocket booster and perhaps some damage to the SpaceX-owned ocean-going landing platform.

I can't help but wonder if this was done so as to save face with the Boeing crowd: "See, we also nailed SpaceX for screwing up."

While being interviewed today by an NBC reporter, Trump disavowed any knowledge of any photos or videos, from the Arlington Cemetery visit, being posted on social media. When first asked about it, he said pictures were taken at the request of the families, but when he was told that photos and videos have been posted on sites like TicTok, his initial response was that it must have been one of the family members who posted it, therefore he had no control over that. However, when he was informed that it was posted by HIS campaign, he said he knew nothing about it and basically ended the interview.

And what about all those COVID-era loans to businesses, often owned by millionaires as well as some members of Congress, many of them Republicans, which were totally forgiven? Why was it OK to forgive those loans, but not student loans? And much of what Biden was doing wasn't actually forgiving the loans as it was to modify the repayment schedules and to reduce the interest being paid. And very few people got all of their loan forgiven, there were limits as to how much of the balance due was reduced. The problem for most of the people on the Right was that the students affected by this didn't look like themselves or their kids. Too much melanin...

Touch screens are great. My 2021 GMC Terrain is a touch screen and it works fine. I can also use voice commands to enter things like addresses in the navigator and so on. However, my wife's 2018 Mercedes C300, it's not a touch screen and no voice command. It's a pain having to use a 'knob' in the center console to 'type' in addresses or select options.

I drive a 2021 GMC Terrain and there are a couple of new features (compared to the 2013 GMC Terrain that I traded-in) that I really like. They include adaptive speed control, where you set the maximum speed that you want to drive and the distance between you and the vehicle in front of you (in car-lengths) and it maintain that distance and matches the speed, as long as it's less than what you've set. I also like the automatic dimming high-beams. One thing I wish it had, that my wife's Mercedes C300 has, is automatic windshield wipers, which changes speed depending on how heavy it's raining. One thing that I wasn't sure that I'd like, but now that I'm used to it, I kind of like, and that's 'push-button' (actually switches that you pull) gear shift mounted in the dash. It allows for a 'cleaner' center console with more usable space for cup holders and a place to put your cell phone. Also, the automatic braking is handy, particularly when you're trying to navigate parking lots with people stopping quick or backing out without looking.

All-in-all, the additional 'tech' in my current car, compared to the same, albeit eight-year older, model, is highly appreciated and works really well.

Non-verbal Learning Disability is not limited to what a person hears but it's also related to how they see the world. Often they have problems with spatial recognition like not being able to tell time from an analog clock face. They also tend to be poor at math, and while it may also take longer for them to learn to read since that requires being able to recognize the shape and relationship of letters, generally, once they overcome that problem, they are known to be avid readers, which they use to compensate for some of their other issues. They are also generally introverts, again this makes reading a source of satisfaction for them. As for their raw intelligence, while it might be harder to measure due to problems with solving spacial problems which are part of most IQ tests, once issues like that are compensated for, individuals with Non-verbal Learning Disabilities are about as intelligent as anyone else.
