This attorney will probably claim that calling Trump a felon is causing his client irreparable harm.

Oh, boo-hoo.

We certainly hope so. Otherwise, why bother. Not only that but it's true. And that's called Free Speach! (According to Judge Judy)

Lawyer Threatens to Sue Anyone who Calls Trump a Felon, Despite Convictions

Is it OK for us to call him a rapist? Cause that's what the judge said he was at that trial ("Donald Trump raped E. Jean Carroll even though he was found liable only for 'sexual abuse,' judge rules" www.businessinsider.com).

The trial where Trump didn't testify. Which is strange, because Trump has previously said that only guilty people refuse to testify at their trials.

So WEIRD, isn't it?

This attorney is basing his threat to sue on the fact that the guilty verdict could be overturned on appeal, and you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube.

Thus, irreparable harm.

" the fact that the guilty verdict could be overturned on appeal"

My response:

"Well, as soon as it IS overturned, I'll stop calling THIS FELON a felon. But until then, it's a true fact HE IS A FELON."

Who is Attorney Mike Davis?

The Federalist Society Project 2025

"Mike Davis, the former Chief Counsel for Nominations to Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley, is the founder and president of the Article III Project (A3P). A3P defends constitutionalist judges and the rule of law. Davis also leads the Internet Accountability Project (IAP), an advocacy organization fighting to rein in Big Tech, along with the Unsilenced Majority, an organization dedicated to opposing Cancel Culture and fighting back against the woke mob and their enablers.

As Chief Counsel for Nominations, Davis advised Chairman Grassley and other senators on the confirmation of federal judges and senior Executive Branch appointees, serving as staff lead for 30 hearings and 41 markup meetings. He oversaw the floor votes for 278 nominees, including the confirmations of Justice Brett Kavanaugh and the record number of circuit judges confirmed during President Trump's first two years in office."

#15 | Posted by Twinpac at 2024-08-21 12:10 AM | Reply

I'm not sure how he expects that to pass legal muster, since something is defamatory only if it damages the reputation of a person or group by saying or writing bad things about them that are not true.

He doesn't. This threat is just another one of Trump's cockeyed ideas and Davis drew the short straw over at Heritage.

"Rumored" to be considered for Attorney General." Yeah, sure, LOL. How many times as Trump sold that old schtick to get a freebie?

"My guess is that the "legal theory" really behind this threat to sue is based on the facts of the corruption of the Supreme Court which makes their decisions entirely predictable invariably in favor of Trump and Republicans. thereby making guilty verdicts against them just temporary inconveniences.

Doublespeak; "Doublespeak is language that deliberately obscures, disguises, distorts, or reverses the meaning of words."

Technically he's not a felon until the judge issues a sentence. But that's beside the point. Calling him a felon is protected speech under 1A. Case closed.

The law only says he can vote until sentencing.

Except one is true and has witnesses documents and a court case to prove it. The other is just another typical maga lie with no evidence to support it.

Btw. Biden could sue for slander. But he is not a narcissistic criminally negligent twice impeached loser. So why should he?

So being a winner (and retiring as one) and being honorable caring human being he obviously does not feel the need to sue anyone.

Trump has filed thousands and thousands of lawsuits. Most of them frivolous. Has Biden even filed one? Google can't find one.

"Technically he's not a felon until the judge issues a sentence."

You just made up that lie. From teh Google's:

You are a felon the second you enter a guilty plea or are found guilty of a felony by a judge or jury, even if you haven't been sentenced.

Technically, Trump's a felon.

And once again, we see the lengths you'll go to lie for him.

That's ridiculous (and weird), I am not aware of her ever having slandered her father. Why would he sue her?

You have something that you think is slanderous that she said about Biden to share?

Pardon me for assuming you think.

Just like your coup attempt failed so you have to act like BLM marches were a coup attempt too.

"No one was supposed to see her diary."

Because it was private.

But that didn't stop Trumpers from stealing it and trying to profit off it.

"She wasn't willing to tell on her dad and she is still trying to sweep it under the carpet. "

She has already responded to your false accusations and said that you Trumpers have misinterpreted it.

But caring what women really mean when they speak is not one of the maga party's strong points is it?

Another MAGAt attorney asking to have his law license suspended for filing obviously frivolous lawsuits. Go for it Gomer, Dotard is a CONVICTED FELON ON 34 COUNTS. He will be a convicted felon in GA, and in both of the federal cases when they get to trial. He will hopefully spend the rest of his miserable life in Prison!

"He will hopefully spend the rest of his miserable life in Prison!"

Nice thought but Trump will die filing appeals before that happens. I'll be happy if he's financially destitute and a political pariah with one foot in an institution and the other foot on a banana peel.

However, I think it's safe to say that Trump's imminent downfall in November won't be the end of the GOP. They've got tons of money and years of time invested in their one-party rule forever plan.

They'll be back in 2028 with a roar and another wannabe dictator to take Trump's place. I wouldn't be surprised if they already have one waiting in the wings.

None of the GQP bench has any sway with the MAGAt base. As we've seen, Dotard is the ONLY politico who can move them. They don't show up for elections where his name is not on the ballot, and I suspect a lot of them only vote for POTUS when it is. Once he's been banished to the dustbin of history, I expect a lot of them to crawl back under their rocks or back in their bottles and meth pipes.

It's going to take two or three cycles for the civil war between the neverTrumpers and what's left of the MAGAts/Qanon nuts to fight it out. I suspect Coke Jr to be a candidate in 2028, but not being his father he'll flame out. The only Republican I'm concerned about is Youngkin, because he comes across as pretty normal which might win a swath of conservative leaning independents. His facade hides strong fascist tendancies. There is nobody in the House or Senate who is a threat, DeSatin is a completely charisma-free ----- and Haley is too brown for the GQP. Dotard has effectively stifled any heirs apparent.

Sure there's lots of money, but when half your base goes away because the cult leader is gone, they can't win. That money still needs to talk to voters. You run into the problem the GQP always has, the filthy rich are a tiny minority, they have to fool the poorly educated that the other is taking their jobs or their kids spot in college or their place on a sports team. But if you look at majority votes for POTUS, Dems have had a majority of votes in seven of the last eight presidential elections. GenZ is more liberal than any group of young people in recent memory and I doubt Dems will be giving back the gains they've made with suburban women. Yes Dems have to keep turning out, but ultimately this is the most important election of our lives and maybe since the civil war era.

Unfortunately you are right. He just won't just go away. Even after it's all over for him.

"Donald Trump is like an old boyfriend who you broke up with, but he just won't go away. He has spent the last four years spinning the block, trying to get back into a relationship with the American people," Jeffries said in his speech.

"Bro, we broke up with you for a reason," the Democratic leader continued, tearing into the former president's 2018 tax bill, his record on COVID-19 and his role in the Jan. 6 attack.

"Donald Trump can spin the block all he wants, but there's no reason for us to ever get back together. Been there, done that. We're not going back," he concluded.
